Debate competition held on Republic Day 26th January 2009

An inter-collegiate debate competition was organized by Central India Kidney Foundation on 26th January , Republic Day. The topic for the debate was “In the opinion of the house , terrorism can not be tackled by Gandhism”. Students from 15 colleges of Nagpur participated in this debate .

Shri Banawarilal Purohit , former member of parliament was the chief guest and Dr Mrs Usha Nair , Director , Orange City Hospital was the guest of honor . Speaking on the occasion , Mr Purohit stressed the need of tackling the terrorism with iron hand . Mrs Usha Nair commended the philanthropic works done by the kidney foundation .

Shri Banwarilal Purohit gave away the prizes of debate competition . The 1st prize was bagged by Mr.Ravi Shukla of Morris College, 2nd prize by Mr Aashish Agarwal of Kamla Nehru College, Sakkardara and the 3rd prize by Miss Aditi Diwedi of G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering. Miss Amruta Damani of ICFAI – Institute of Management, Miss Chinmayee Nimkhedkar of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law and Mr.Vishnu Pillai of YCC college of Engineering won consolation Prizes. The shield for the best college was won by Kamala Nehru College, Sakkardara represented by Mr.Aashish Agrawal and Mr.Nilesh Pimpalkar.

The prizes for the poster painting competition on ‘ Role of kidneys in health and diseases ’ were given away by Dr. Usha Nair. The 1st prize was bagged by Mr.Sameer Karnik of Bioniche Life Science, the 2nd prize was won by Mrs. Aparna Chowdhury of La Renon and the 3rd prize was won by Mr.Sailesh of Claris.

The program was moderated by Dr Mrs Gira Soni . Dr Vijay Upadhyaya , Mr Kaustav Chatterjee , Dr Mrs Bali , Dr Mrs Ookalkar and Dr Khetan were the judges for this contest.

Earlier , President of Central India Kidney Foundation Dr Mrs Vandana Khushalani welcomed the guests. Vice president CA Anil Rathi briefed the audience about the activities of CIKF .Hon secretary Dr Nikhil Kibe and Dr.Rajesh Soni introduced the guests . Program was convened by Dr S.J.Acharya. Eminent Poet Mr Madhup Pande , Mrs Sadana , Dr Badar , Dr Debashish Acharya , Kumar Shankaran ,Dr Sunil Gupta , Hemant Khandelwal , Mr Jobanputra, Dr Neeta Deshpande , Dr Sudhir Soni , Colonel Jog were prominently present on this occasion. Joint secretary Mrs Aparna Shankaran Mahadevan proposed a vote of Thanks.
