Seminar on Hypertension held on World Kidney Day

A seminar on Hypertension was organised on 12th March 2009 on the occasion of World Kidney day. This was jointly organised by Central India Kidney Foundation and IMA – Academy of Medical specialities .
On this occasion emphasis was put on control of hypertension in order to prevent chronic kidney disease and heart failure.
Seminar was held at hotel Centre Point , Ramdaspeth , Nagpur. Eminent nephrologist Dr S.J.Acharya , delivered a talk on ‘Basics of Hypertension’ in which he emphasised on the mechanism of development of high blood pressure . If the blood pressure remains uncontrolled then vital organs like eyes , brain , heart and kidneys can be damaged irreversibly. He also elaborated on how change in life style , dietary food habits and salt restriction can control blood pressure in addition to medications.

Dr Debajyoti Roy , nephrologist from Ruby Hall Clinic , Pune talked on ‘Management of Hypertension – nephrologist’s perspective ‘. He deliberated on various medicines used for control of hypertension .
The program was moderated by Dr Mrs Uma Pitale . Dr S.N.Deshmukh , Dr Ookalkar , Dr Viresh Gupta , Dr Jaspal Arneja and Dr S.D.Suryawanshi were chairpersons.
Earlier Dr Sunil Gupta , president of IMA - AMS welcomed the guests , vice president of Central India Kidney Foundation CA Anil Rathi briefed about the humanitarian works done by the foundation . Program was convened by senior physician Dr S.M.Patil .
